No doubt, Elon is rebranding, but rebranding into what exactly is the question. How will the ‘global town square’ be transformed?

It's sounding like X is supposed to be some kind of global marketplace with audio, video, messaging, commenting, and possibly even banking? The Everything App.

This level of platform wouldn’t be possible without AI. We’ll see if it’s even possible with AI. But we don’t know any sane person who would bet against Musk.

We have like a thousand questions; but most pressingly, if you tweet on Twitter, you what on X?

X may mark the spot, but does it also hit the spot?

Is this the beginning of the next phase of (Twitter) domination, or will it go eXtinct?

Will the world eXperience a new level of Elon’s eXcellence?

FreeWilly - Your Next Open-Source Large Language Model

StabilityAI unleashed a pack of instruction-loving language models into the research world: FreeWilly and FreeWilly2.

These models are eager to learn new tricks and help researchers explore the frontiers of AI. Both models were fine-tuned with a new synthetically-generated dataset using Supervised Fine-Tune (SFT) in standard Alpaca format.

According to Stability AI, FreeWilly2 beats GPT-4 in some areas and GPT-3 in most:

We’re loving those HellaSwag and TruthfulQA stats.

You’ll have to get an API token through Hugging Face to download, but it’s worth it.

The open-source AI community is on a roll. With Llama, Vincuna, and FreeWilly, it's clear that competition is driving innovation. Buckle up, folks, this is just the beginning.

P.S. IDK, but we’re thinking Free Willy may not have been the best choice of names; not everyone is familiar with the classic. Just us? We’ll let ourselves out.

Blast from the Past: Clippy

Last week we asked you about this little guy …

One of you told us “I hear it tapping on the screen to keep me from wasting my time”. It’s etched into our memories, too @christopheratkins904.

Another AI Guy reader said “I worked at Microsoft when we released [him].” Clearly, we’re not as cool as them.

Now for the point, we’ve been leading up to …

His ultra-original name is Clippy. If you’re older, when you used Microsoft 97 Clippy was probably your first AI chatbot experience ever. Bet you didn’t realize that, did you?

His near-automatic greeting was “It looks like you’re writing a letter”.

Very helpful if you are indeed writing a letter, but generally if I’m opening a document, it’s not to write a letter.

Hence, Clippy’s ultimate death sentence – not being very user-friendly.

If you still love this little guy, you can still experience Clippy today with this unauthorized version and an OpenAI key. AI Guy wonders if Bard and ChatGPT would take on a little bit more personality, how much would that impact usage?
