Bard is an Alpha
(and he knows it)

We brought up yesterday how Bard is deeply rooted in linguistic savvy. When you consider language, you’re usually only thinking of words.

But you don’t just have to give Bard words – you can straight up upload a picture and it will interact with it.

We gave Bard this picture and asked “Is this a good picture?”

Bard said “No, you eejit” in not so many words.

Technically, this is possible because of the Integration with Google Lens, enabling users to upload images with prompts (multimodal). Visual data upload was just one of the significant most recent updates on Bard. It’s now available in 40+ languages from sources of text and voice. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

AI Uncertainty in Canada

Still can’t access Google Bard?

You probably live in Russia, China and now Canada. Google has yet to cement a solid way forward with these countries due to “regulatory uncertainty”. Specifically, Canada has introduced bills to regulate AI based on privacy and national security concerns. Until this clears up, Google’s not giving Canada access to Bard.

Don’t Censor my AI

Following the EU, China sets its own version of AI regulation. For a nation with historically heavy censorship, this is no surprise. Ironically though, AI regulation laws would only apply to the public and not research institutions. This regulation would include a license requirement for generative AIs to operate to insure “illegal content” wouldn’t be provided and adherence to “core values of socialism”.

What Google is really trying to say is …

Every day is a good day to be an American.
