Scientists at the UW Institute for Protein Design have developed robust AI tools that can develop proteins to target specific problems in the body.

Researchers are now exploring applications, such as targeting diseases like cancer and autoimmune disorders.

Early indications suggest that the protein designs generated by RFdiffusion, an AI tool, are promising in targeting these diseases.

In one test, the tool designed proteins with a key segment of p53, a crucial cancer signaling molecule, that were 1,000 times stronger than natural p53.

This is a great sign in the fight against cancer.

AI tests into the top 1% for original creative thinking

Research from the University of Montana suggests that GPT-4 can perform at the level of the top 1% of human thinkers on a creativity test.

The study used the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT) and compared AI-generated responses to answers from a control group of 2,700 college students nationwide who took the TTCT in 2016.

ChatGPT excelled in fluency and originality, scoring in the top percentile.

This study signals the almost impossible task of differentiating between human and AI-generated ideas, and the technology is only getting better.

The University plans to incorporate AI into coursework, recognizing its transformative impact on entrepreneurship and regional innovation
