Uber’s Forward Motion

Imagine you own a company and said company has lost close to $32 billion in operating losses since 2014.

Said company is actually Uber.

But the good news is during Q2 of 2023, Uber will finally gain an operating profit of $326 million.

Who deserves praise for this progress?

The CEO?

Less competition?

Less inflation?

Nah, it’s AI! Along with increased ridership and new revenue streams, but that’s an afterthought 😉

Not only has Uber been using AI, but they have plans to develop, you guessed it, a chatbot.

And they’re not the only ones, chatbot plans are in the works for DoorDash and Instacart, too. DoorDash is developing a system called DashAI in hopes to speed up ordering and personalize order selection.

So next time you’ve had a case of the Mondays, you’ll be able to ask DashAI questions like “what’s the fastest option to get loaded nachos, chicky nuggs, and a large Dr. Pepper for under $40”.

In May, Instacart premiered “Ask Instacart” which lets customers ask questions about food preparation using OpenAi’s application programming interface (API).

The world’s about to get a whole lot more chatty. And less hungry.

Say Less. AI @ White Castle

Have you ever had kids screaming at you from the back seat while you try to order?

It is a canon event.

Maybe you’ve been at the drive-thru on the phone with someone who is still not ready to order.

Or perhaps the follow-up text to “what do you want?” hasn’t come through yet.

Well, future experience at White Castle will likely eradicate that tension and literally help you say less.

Thanks to speech recognition company Sound Hound, White Castle aims to have an AI voice on its speakers to help with customer interaction and process orders in just under two minutes.

Oh, and you bet your bottom dollar it’ll always offer you a suggestion of something to add to your order.

They’re hoping to eradicate miscommunications due to conflicting audio and even strong accents.

AI solves racism? Too soon to tell.
